All you need is love, love is all you need

Today was the morning of the photo shoot & I woke up with that sick feeling when you are nervous but excited at the same time.
I had first met Joy at Megan & Matt's Wedding last October where she was doing the photographs. I fell in love with the way Joy worked & captured images, so I asked her if she'd like to do 'a day in the life of a Florist' & when better to do it than Valentines Week!
Joy's photography business is called Beautiful Life she runs it with her Husband - she takes the photos & he takes the Video. Check out Joy's blog as well because she has also posted the pictures of our day.

Well the day started with my alarm going off at 4.30am (yes that time does exist) & we met Joy in Hathern at 5.45am on the way to the Flower Market in Derby.I needed to collect the Red Roses I had ordered months ago & start to buy other flowers & foliage to fill the Shop.
Mum & I pretending to look like we know what we are doing! It looks like we were the only Florists there but trust me we weren't & we were late.

Choosing my flowers.

Panic buying more red Roses!

Armed with my shopping list!

My pile of flowers got a lot bigger than this. A quick Hot Chocolate break.

Plants being scanned by Carl. Our pile of boxes are nearly as tall as him ;)

This is the famous Bob, he was adamant that he was having his photo taken.

Carl loading up Victor the Van for us. Notice it is still pitch black outside!

While we were unloading the Van, Joy took a few pictures of the flowers that were already in the Shop.

Roses

Mini Gerbera

Orange Spray Roses

Back at the Shop now & it is just beginning to get light. I am ready to go back to bed but I can't. We have a well earned cup of tea & bowl of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes.
Once the refuelling had finished we started to unpack the mountain of boxes. All the flowers had to have their stems cut, leaves stripped & then put into water.

I left the red Roses until last to unpack as they always have evil thorns on them.

Beautiful Stocks with the best smell in the world.

I could of got my roots done!!

Making up a bouquet for a customer.

My trademark Butterfly that is placed in each order.

Valentines theme Vase for the Pub over the road.

Now it's time to start making up bouquets for men to just pick up & go.

A dozen 'Passion' Roses all gift wrapped with red tissue.

Some quirky heart shaped Bamboo.

We don't just sell flowers but we also have a large selection of gifts

And a lot of Butterflies.

and hearts!

More Butterflies.

I have really enjoyed working with Joy & hope to work with her again in the future.
